A DECADE AGO | A WHITE CHRISTMAS

As we linger on the periphery of a new decade amidst this winter season, we’ve been reflecting on the seasonality of our projects within their specific contexts. We strive to root our projects into the very contexts they’re derived from with context, climate, and materiality as our primary focus in our work. A decade ago, Dallas experienced a record-breaking snow fall, the covered the city in quiet elegance and gave a number of our residential projects a rare opportunity to showcase their materiality in a change of scenery. A few of these projects included the Miller, Welch, Howard, Winson, and Freeman Residences. The Ridgeline Residence in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, sits within a very different context from Dallas,. Nevertheless, we designed it to nestle within its natural context with an explicit palette of regional materials. Its seasonality becomes incredibly pronounced in the winter as the home becomes part of a snowy hillside, blending within the greater landscape vastly undisturbed by the built environment.
